A multisensory installation
where each step is an emotion

Let the show begin! Not an exhibition but the actual staging of 200 years of history. Like all shows, there is a theme, a script and a set. And you are the spectators, but you can also become the lead characters of this story, because we also offer an experience, a formative and educational experience above all else.

From the story, recounted as the vicissitudes of a family and a context enshrining many biographies and memories, we then move on to a correct use of a community vocabulary that can help us live more respectful and conscious lives. The show is staged in the Black Tunnel, while the White Tunnel is conceived as an educational space dedicated to the experience of history.

This project is the result of a joint reflection between the Fondazione Museo storico del Trentino and ITAS Mutua. It is a partnership based on good teamwork, much creativity and different professional skills.

After the show, the EXPERIENCE.
A space for experimenting conscious citizenship.

A space dedicated to citizenship education has been set up in the White Gallery. Here schoolchildren and students of all ages can find a combination of curriculum-based continuous teaching and learning with the programmes offered by the Education Department of the Fondazione Museo storico del Trentino, which are aimed at disseminating knowledge about the local area and communities and are based on a critical method for analysing historical sources and the web (a tool for understanding our own reality).
Groups, as well as individual visitors, can get involved hands-on at the workstations focusing on five different topics: distinguishing between true and fake news, playing with maps, composing the words of citizenship and finding out about some exemplary figures from Trentino and their stories.

Schools can book the SHOW and the educational programmes offered in the EXPERIENCE space. The education workshop in the EXPERIENCE space revolves around use of the five workstations or the possibility of in-depth research into just one of the topics addressed there. Participants can also carry out any of the activities offered by the Education Department among those included in the FMST brochure for schools 21-22

The SHOW can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 to 18, every 45 minutes. The visit lasts about 40 minutes. School groups can also book a visit at 9:30. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of the visit.

Length SHOW + EXPERIENCE 1 hour and 30 minutes.

The Fondazione Museo storico del Trentino was established just in time to oversee the conversion of the Gallerie tunnels into cultural spaces. The tunnels, opened in the summer of 2008, have since hosted numerous events and exhibitions exploring different languages, new approaches and educational experiences.

Our focus is primarily on history and enhancing the dimensions of heritage and memory, especially at the local level and by highlighting the complexity of the historical events that have shaped Trentino, a border land with its autonomy.

To achieve this aim, we carefully preserve the heritage handed down to us and build on it day by day, we investigate and research, manage a number of important exhibition spaces and support the world of education and training. We are at the service of our community and pleased to express its pride in our common heritage.

ITAS Mutua is Italy’s oldest insurance company.

We were established 200 years ago, in 1821, in what was then the historic region of Tyrol, to meet the needs of farmers and stockbreeders who joined together as a mutual society to protect members from the scourge of fire. Since then, we have significantly developed, also thanks to innovation and technology, and now count almost one million insured members throughout Italy, providing all types of insurance through our network of agencies, to help them protect what matters most to them.

For 200 years we have always remained loyal to our nature as a mutual organisation: we have no private stakeholders to distribute dividends to, because the only owners are our insured members. Which is why the profit we make is invested to create benefits for them and to support the communities in which we operate. This is what a Mutual Society is all about. This is and has always been our commitment, for 200 years.
